This 7 day tour offers in depth exploration of Paro and Thimphu, a visit to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery, the ancient capital of Bhutan and the stunning Phobjikha Valley, a famous shelter of the rare Black Necked Cranes.
This tour is for those who wish to experience the essential Bhutan and explore out of the towns to get the feel for daily life in Bhutan. This trip allows the traveller to see the stunning traditional architecture and the landscape on an overland drive to the ancient capital and beyond to Bhutan’s haven for the rare Black Necked Cranes, which shelter here in the winter months. We get to explore this truly unique culture, clothing and crafts, farming and rural life, the famously spicy food and of course to learn about Bhutan’s incredibly rich Buddhist heritage! All of this, set in the beautiful Bhutanese landscape with its high mountains, lush forests and picturesque terraced fields.

Day 01 Paro Airport – Thimphu
(Distance: 65 kms. / Driving Time: 2 hrs. / Altitude of Thimphu: 2350 mts.
Meet & Greet on arrival at Paro Airport and transfer to Thimphu (7,710 ft.) the capital city of Bhutan. Onarrival check in at the hotel. Evening explore the Thimphu town by walk. Overnight stay at Thimphu.
Day 02 Thimphu Sightseeing
After breakfast visit Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Statue) a place for refreshing with a huge statue of Buddha on the top of the Kuensel Phodrang, National Memorial Chorten (Monument) & Folk eritage Museum. Afternoon visit Sangaygang View Point, Changangkha Monastery, Takin Preserve Centre, the national animal of Bhutan can be seen here. In the evening visit Tashichho Dzong (Fortress of the Glorious Religion).
Overnight stay at Thimphu.
Day 03 Thimphu – Punakha/Wangdue Sightseeing
(Distance: 77 kms. / Driving Time: 3 hrs. / Altitude of Punakha: 1310 mts.)
After breakfast drive to Punakha / Wangdue, On the way Stop at Dochu-La-Pass (3150 mts.).
To view the higher Himalayas. Arrival at Punakha check in at hotel. After noon visit Punakha Dzong – built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. For many years until the time of the second king, it served as the seat of the Government. The Dzong was named Druk Pungthang Dechen Phodrang (Palace of Great Happiness). Punakha is still the winter residence of Je-Khenpo and King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck convened the first National Assembly here in 1952. After that take a short and easy hike to visit the Chhimi Lhakhang – The Temple, also known as “The Temple of Fertility” was built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley, “The Devine Mad Man”. Evening free for leisure.

Day 04 Excursion to Gangtey (Phobjikha) OR Punakha Sightseeing
(Excursion to Gangtey – Distance: 78 kms. One way / Driving Time: 3 hrs.)
After breakfast, start for full day excursion trip to Gangtey (9,840 ft.). Gangtey is the home of Black Necked Crane which migrates from the arid plains of Tibet in the north. It is a beautiful valley of Bhutan.
You can also visit Gangtey Gompha. Evening return back. Overnight stay at Punakha / Wangdue.Alternatively, instead of going to Gangtey (Phobjikha), you also have an option spending the day in Punakha Valley itself. After breakfast hike Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten which is about 45 Mins easy hike to the top of the hill. It offers a breathtaking view of the Punakha Valley. Also visit Punakha Suspension Bridge and Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Nunnery. Rest of the day free for leisure.Overnight stay at Punakha / Wangdue.
Day 05 Punakha/Wangdue – Paro Sightseeing
(Distance: 140 kms. / Driving Time: 5 hrs. / Altitude of Paro: 2280 mts.)
After breakfast drive to Paro (7,483 ft.). On the way stop at Lamperi to visit Royal Botanical Park. On arrival check in at the hotel. Afternoon visit Ta Dzong – National Museum with an excellent collection of arts, relics, religious thangkha, etc. Rinpung Dzong – Meaning “fortress of the heap of jewels”. The dzong now serves as the administrative and judicial seat of Paro. Evening free for leisure.
Overnight stay at Paro.
Day 06 Paro Sightseeing
After breakfast hike to the famous Taktsang Monastery – called “Tiger’s Nest” (2hrs hike from the base camp). Later visit Drukgyel Dzong & Kyichu Monastery.

Day 07 Excursion to Chele-La-Pass
(Distance: 35 kms. One way / Driving Time: 2 hrs. / Altitude of Chele-La-Pass: 3810 mts.)
After breakfast excursion trip to Chele-La-Pass (13,088 ft.) – the ighest motorable road in Bhutan. Enjoy the scenic beauty & memorable landscapes from Chele-La-Pass. Back to Paro. Rest of the day is free for leisure.
Overnight stay at Paro.
Day 08 Paro Airport
After breakfast check out from hotel and drop at Paro Airport for your onward journey.

  • Most of the rooms in all hotels at Bhutan are twin bedded rooms. Very limited rooms have king size bed. King size bedded rooms will be provided subject to availability only. If the same is unavailable we shall provide twin bedded rooms only.
  • Due to less number of hotels available in similar category at Bhutan we provide combination of both 3-star premium and 4-star hotels under luxury package and combination of 4-star premium and 5-star hotels under premium package.
  • Except selected 5-star hotels in Bhutan air-conditioned facility is not available in rooms. On request some of the hotels provide table fan only as per availability.
  • Hotels in other cities of Bhutan may not match the standard of hotels in Thimphu, Paro & Punakha.

  • For tour Starting or ending from India Packages, we provide exclusive Indian Vehicle in India Part and Bhutan vehicle in Bhutan part. All the vehicles provided, unless otherwise specified will be NonA/C Vehicles. Supplement Charges will be applicable for A/C vehicles.

    Hotels are very strict with the child policy. Please carry the age proof so that it can be produced when asked.

Important Facts for Travelers :-

Entry Permit for Bhutan:

Indian nationals do not require any visa for Bhutan. A permit will be issued at the entry point on production of a passport (with a minimum validity of 6 months from the date of departure) or Voter ID (only valid document for issuing the Bhutan Entry permit). The traveler also has to carry photocopy of the travel documents and 04 passport size photographs. For Children, original Birth certificate in English and student ID is required.
If you are entering Bhutan via land, it is to be noted that the permits are issued only during working days and hours. (Monday to Friday between 9 am to 4 pm during winter and 5 pm during summer). It is suggested that the travelers arriving in Phuentsholing on Friday should arrive latest by 10 AM in order to complete the entry formalities. No permits are issued on Saturday, Sunday and Bhutan government holidays. However, during high season depending upon the rush immigration may take long time to issue the permit. We shall not be responsible for any delay during processing of permit by the immigration authority. Please keep your client informed they may have to stand on long queue during high season to obtain the permit if traveling via Phuentsholing.

Special Permit for places other than Phuentsholing, Thimphu and Paro:

Special Permit is required to visit places beyond Thimphu and Paro from, the Department of Immigrations, Thimphu. No charges will be applicable for this permit. Please bring 02 assport size photographs and Voter ID card or Passport of each person ncluding child. This special permit is given only after guest has entered Bhutan. Permits are not issued on Saturday, Sunday & Bhutan Govt.holidays.
  • We need following for process your booking Guest Name & Contact Number. Naming List with gender & age.

Other Travel Information

  • It is important that you follow the suggestions and instructions of your guide in order to have a memorable holiday in Bhutan. All the guides provided are trained and certified by the Tourism Council of Bhutan.
  • Adults must carry original & valid Passport or original Voter ID card. Children must carry original & valid Passport or original birth certificate & school photo ID card.
  • Indian travelers can carry Indian Currency in INR 100 denominations or smaller notes into Bhutan
  • Tobacco & Tobacco products are banned in Bhutan. However, travelers may carry limited quantity for their personal consumption in payment of taxes as may be applicable the entry points. Please do not use tobacco products in Public places.
  • Remember to carry clothing as per the season and temperature in Bhutan during the time of travel.
  • It is not recommended to hike to Tiger’s Nest (Takstang Monastery) when you are traveling with small kids. Roads are not like normal hiking as you have to pass through stiff stairs ups and downs.
  • Please check with your mobile service provider for charges related to Bhutan.
  • Do not bring any plant or agricultural product out of Bhutan. It is illegal.
  • Credit cards are accepted in selected establishments in Bhutan. However, it is recommended that you speak with your service provider to find out about the acceptability of credit card in Bhutan.
  • Please take off your hats while visiting Dzongs, monasteries and in front of the National Flag. And also ensure that you are properly dressed (such as long sleeves shirts and T Shirts, full pants) while visiting Dzongs, temples and other government offices
  • Taking pictures of some parts and items in the Temples and Dzongs are prohibited. Please follow the instructions from your guide.
  • If you buy antiques from Bhutan, please ensure that you have valid bills and cash memo for the same. Bhutan has strict regulations for the same.
  • Please be informed that the condition of the road to Bumthang is bad as widening works are going on. It is taking more than 12 Hours to reach Bumthang from Punakha. If there is any bookings for Bumthang, Please inform the travelers beforehand on mandatory basis about the Same so that the travelers come prepared.
  • Camping facilities in Bhutan are very basic with simple Bhutanese food. Please do not expect international quality of camps in Bhutan.
